Description
WONDERlust is a true life fairy tale about Julie Jane and Ronald achieving
their dream of visiting the Seven Wonders of the World, something Julie
Woods and Ron Esplin did together between 2009 and 2014.
Written by that blind woman Julie Woods and illustrated by her husband Ron
Esplin, this book is based on Julie’s sensory diary notes and Ron’s water
colour paintings from their travels.
When Julie began travelling people often said “How can you sight see when
you can’t see?” Julie responded by writing down one thing she smelt, heard,
tasted and touched every day she was away. These diary entries have formed
the basis for the text of this book, along with 20 of Ron’s water colour
paintings. From Petra in Jordan to Machu Picchu in Peru, the pairs dream
took them to 23 countries, speaking 15 languages and staying in 44 hotel
rooms until they finally arrived in Chichen Itza in Mexico, their Seventh
Wonder of the World.
This tale of beauty is told through the paintings of Ron and the senses of
Julie, with the aim to have your faith restored in the power of happy
endings.
